President Tinubu has urged unity and discipline within the APC, reaffirming his commitment to reforms and national development.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for greater unity, discipline, and a renewed sense of commitment within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party convened for its 4th Elective National Convention in Abuja.
Speaking on Friday at the convention held at Eagle Square, the President described the gathering as a defining and historic moment not only for the APC but also for the continued growth and consolidation of Nigeria’s democracy. He urged party members, leaders, and stakeholders to strengthen their collective resolve, close ranks, and recommit themselves to the founding ideals and principles that brought the party into existence.
Tinubu emphasised that unity remains the party’s greatest and most enduring strength, cautioning that political parties often falter and lose direction when personal ambitions are allowed to overshadow collective interests, shared values, and internal discipline.
“Our greatest strength has never been in our size or numbers, but in our unity,” Tinubu said, stressing that the convention should serve as a powerful signal to Nigerians and the international community that the APC remains cohesive, resilient, and forward-looking.
He further noted that the party must continue to build on its internal cohesion, promote discipline among its members, and stay focused on delivering reforms and policies that will drive national development, economic stability, and democratic progress.
Highlighting his administration’s reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, Tinubu acknowledged that rebuilding Nigeria requires difficult decisions but insisted that ongoing sacrifices would yield long-term economic benefits.
He pointed to improvements in infrastructure, fiscal reforms, foreign exchange stability, and increased investor confidence, while noting that inflation has declined and economic activity has expanded in recent months.
The President also identified ongoing challenges in the power sector, including debts and ageing infrastructure, revealing plans to establish a Grid Asset Management Company to strengthen electricity supply.
Tinubu further called for increased participation of youth and women in politics, urging the party to create more opportunities for leadership and decision-making across all levels.
He appealed to party members to conduct themselves with integrity throughout the convention, stressing that internal contests should not divide the party.
“At the end of this convention, our party must be the victor. We are one family, marching forward with clarity, discipline, and purpose,” he said.
The President commended party leaders, governors, and members of the convention planning committee for their roles in organising the event, urging newly elected officials to lead with humility, integrity, and vision.
